Airbus has once again trusted in Juaristi to equip its plant in St-Eloi, Toulouse, with two machining centres. Continuing the strategic collaboration that commenced in 1995, Airbus has encharged Juaristi with the manufacture of two palletized milling and boring centres to modernize their machining capability. The project was finalized and accepted in March.
The project that Airbus has offered Juaristi consists of two TX3S boring-milling centres, in which the main structural characteristic is their box-in-box configuration, with the headstock centred on the column, avoiding thermal deformations. This characteristic improves the precision of the machining and increases the cutting capability.
The machining centres that Juaristi is to supply to Airbus will be used to machine structural elements known as “masts”. These structures are used to mount the plane’s engines on the wings. They are highly-critical parts, made of hard materials such as titanium, Inconel and stainless steel, and that require high precision. In view of this, the centres to be supplied offer a high capacity for material removal and guarantee a superior surface quality that complies with the demanding requirements for the finish.
In addition, the centres are highly automated, including loading and inspection of parts and automatic tool changing. They are also equipped with the latest developments of Industry 4.0 for data acquisition and management, automatic data transfer between the machine and the Airbus network, etc.
