31ST EDITION OF BIEMH, THE MOST AWAITED

08 June, 2022

This morning the 31st edition of BIEMH was presented at BEC in an atmosphere of great optimism and enthusiasm, after four years since the last edition of the fair, in 2018. Participating in the presentation were Xabier Basañez, general manager of Bilbao Exhibition Centre, José Pérez Berdud, president of AFM Cluster, Xabier Ortueta, general director of AFM Cluster, José Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina, president of AIMHE and Thais Basañez-Allende, Event Manager of 31BIEMH.

The BEC fairgrounds will host, from June 13 to 17, 1,400 exhibiting firms from 28 countries, which will occupy the six BEC pavilions, as happened in the successful 2018 edition.

The machine tool and advanced manufacturing technology sector has closed the year 2021 with an interesting increase in turnover of 18.66% over the figures corresponding to 2020, recovering a good part of what was lost due to the pandemic. On the other hand, exports have had an even more remarkable increase, specifically, of 23.41% higher than the equivalent figure for 2020, reaching 1,241.47 million euros invoiced abroad. Despite the complex international scenario, companies have started the year with interesting portfolios of work and good activity.

In the words of José Pérez Berdud, president of AFM, "The advanced manufacturing technologies sector has its expectations set in this new edition of the main industrial fair that is held in our country and that will respond to the need for re-equipment of our industry to sustain our competitiveness.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the innovations that have occurred in the last four years in all advanced manufacturing technologies, from machine tools, digitization, 3D printing, automation and robotics or maintenance.

On the other hand, in addition to a wide and specialized exhibition offer, it is worth highlighting the conference program with more than 230 national and international speakers. The talks that have been underway since previous years continue, Additive Talks, coinciding with ADDIT3D, the international additive manufacturing fair, Digital Talks, together with BeDIGITAL, a space for digital transformation, and IMIC, for industrial maintenance.

Innovation comes this year from the hand of Automation & Robotic Talks, an organized program with specific themes of robotics and automation, and the sessions for industrial inspiration, iTalks. Likewise, we cannot fail to mention the WORKinn Talent Hub Industrial Employment fair, with its own exhibition space and renewed and reinforced content.

For the first time, BIEMH will feature the Women in Industry conference programme, a space for reflection and debate on the need for gender equality in business and, especially, in industry.

BIEMH will also host the 14th National Award for Innovation in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing Technologies, in which innovations in machine tools, components, accessories and tools, additive manufacturing and 4.0 concepts applied to industry will be awarded, in addition to an award for the most innovative startup oriented to advanced and digital manufacturing. The awards have the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, whose Deputy for Economic Promotion, Ainara Basurko, will preside over the award ceremony, accompanied by Galo Gutiérrez, General Director of Industry and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry.

The companies CITD, Meltio and Navantia are competing for the award in the 2022 edition in the additive manufacturing category; in the Industry 4.0 category, AD² ADDvance, Hodeia Digital, Muutech, Smartpm, TicTap and Zayer; in the category of machine tools, Ibarmia, Lagun Machine Tools and Zayer, and finally, in the category of components, accessories and tools, Nicolás Correa and Soraluce.

AFM CLUSTER brings together a group of more than 700 companies in the field of advanced and digital manufacturing, of which 200 will be present at the fair, occupying a very relevant part of the BIEMH exhibition space.
