Imanol Pradales, regional member of parliament for economic and territorial development, accompanied by Gorka Estebez and José María Bilbao, area director and deputy director, respectively, visited the IZAR Cutting Tools SAL facilities in Boroa, Bizkaia on 31 January.
Notably, the visit was also attended by Ainara Basurko, general manager of BEAZ, the public entity -governed by the Bizkaia County Council- that provides support for the region’s companies and entrepreneurs to create new projects, innovate and expand internationally.
More specifically, the interest shown by BEAZ in the Amorebieta-based cutting tool manufacturer hones in on the relationship of IZAR with project DRIVE, focusing on the “hidden champions” study, which looks into Bizkaia-based industrial SMEs with a history and flagship product and technology, coupled with high exports, which has enabled them to achieve a position of relevance, sustained growth and an above average profitability in their sector.
IZAR, as a historical benchmark, leading innovator in the manufacture of twist drills, end mills and other tools, and exporter to 90 foreign markets all over the world, ticks all the boxes for the Bizkaia county council to be interested in studying the secrets to its success, in order to pass on this good practice to a new business generation.
During the presentation of the company and the visit to its production plant, Carlos Pujana, CEO of the company, presented an in-depth look at the history of the company, the innovation projects it currently has underway and the future challenges it’s getting ready to face.
