CECIMO BRUSSELS FORUM 2024: FOSTERING COMPETITIVENESS AND INNOVATION IN EUROPEAN MANUFACTURING

25 September, 2024

The CECIMO Brussels Forum 2024 will be held on 2 December at the Sofitel Brussels Europe Hotel, bringing together prominent political leaders, industry experts and key players from the advanced manufacturing sector.

The event will focus on the challenges facing the European manufacturing industry in a constantly evolving global environment, exploring innovative and sustainable solutions to maintain its competitiveness. This year, the event is supported by Fagor Automation, which is participating as a Golden Sponsor, underlining its commitment to driving technological innovation in the machine tool industry.

Focus on the Challenges of the Advanced Manufacturing Sector

This year's edition will revolve around five crucial thematic areas: digitalisation, cybersecurity, single market, sustainability and automation. Each of these areas plays a pivotal role in the development and transformation of the manufacturing sector, particularly at a time when the transition to sustainability and the adoption of new technologies are key to growth.

The importance of these topics reflects the current concerns of the industry, which is facing challenges such as resilience to global disruptions, integration of smart automation and environmental compliance. In addition, the event will provide an overview of trends around advanced machinery manufacturing and efforts to achieve net zero carbon emission targets by 2050.

Panel Discussions: Competitiveness and the Future of Factories

The forum will include two panel discussions addressing the sector's most pressing concerns.

The first, entitled ‘How do we keep the European manufacturing sector competitive?’, will look at strategies for European companies to remain leaders in a highly competitive global environment. In this context, topics such as innovation, sustainability, regulations and trade barriers affecting advanced manufacturing companies will be discussed.

The second panel, ‘What will the factories of the future look like?’, will delve into the impact of emerging technologies and new production models on industry. Experts will discuss the integration of automation and digitisation, the impact on supply chain management and the role of sustainability in shaping the factories of tomorrow.

Confirmed Speakers

The event will be attended by leading figures from industry and politics. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Irene Bader (DMG MORI)
  • René Delbé (Microsoft)
  • Nathalie Errard (Airbus)
  • Stephane Pernet (FANUC)
  • Thomas Schneider (TRUMPF)
  • Kerstin Jorna (European Commission)
  • Amaryllis Verhoeven (European Commission)

These leaders will give their views on how advanced manufacturing can meet today's challenges, from integrating emerging technologies to adapting to new regulations and environmental expectations.

Machine Tool Innovation Awards

One of the key moments of the CECIMO Brussels Forum 2024 will be the Machine Tools Innovation (MTI) Awards, which recognise the most innovative projects in the sector. Now in their second year, these awards highlight advances in the machine tool industry, a crucial sector for the development of advanced manufacturing in Europe.

The event will not only serve not only to reward innovation, but also as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among industry professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from best practices and strategies to improve the competitiveness of their companies in an increasingly demanding global environment.

Balance of the 2023 Edition

The previous edition, held in December 2023, was a resounding success, bringing together industry leaders and showcasing some of the most cutting-edge projects in the field of manufacturing. During the event, advances in sustainability, digitalisation and the future of work in the industry were discussed. The main prize of the MTI Awards was awarded to Aitak Robotics SL for its innovative project to eliminate carcinogenic risks by using robots in the manufacture of complex parts.

The CECIMO Brussels Forum 2024 promises to be an unmissable event for key players in advanced manufacturing in Europe. Through its panel discussions, expert presentations and the prestigious MTI Awards, the event will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, the identification of emerging trends and the promotion of innovative solutions that enable European industry to stay ahead in a challenging global environment.
