CMA MACHINE TOOLS PRESENTS A NEW AUTOMATIC SCREWING MACHINE FOR PRE-CUT PARTS

30 May, 2024

CMA Machine Tools is set to present its new automatic screwing machine, designed specifically for handling laser-cut sheet metal parts. This machine, which belongs to the CMA FTC CNC series, is capable of high-precision drilling, screwing and countersinking, thanks to its three-axis mobile head (X, Y, Z).

One of the most outstanding features of this new screwing machine is its floating head, which is a system fully developed and manufactured by CMA. This head is capable of absorbing variations of up to 1mm in the positioning of the part, which is crucial for avoiding screw tap breakages.

The CMA FTC CNC is controlled and programmed through a PC controller equipped with CMA's own CNC software, TapCam. This software can import files in 2D and 3D, which can be automatically converted into ISO codes, thus simplifying the machine configuration and programming process.

The screwing machine's table is designed with Ø28 mm holes that offer significant operational advantages. These holes provide solid anchor points to securely hold clamping systems and can also be used as reference points for establishing point zero. Using these common points of reference allows for quick transitions between the different working parts, significantly reducing downtime and increasing the machine’s productivity.

The movement of the head along the table is on hardened precision guidelines, which are directly mounted on the body of the machine. Transition between the X and Y axes is done using a helical rack and pinion system, while movement on the Z axis is through a self-lubricating ball spindle.
