The international vocation and openness to foreign markets is one of the hallmarks of Danobatgroup. In fact, more than 90% of its income comes from international markets, such as China, where the group has been present for more than 30 years.
With around 55 million euros of orders captured in 2022, the Asian giant has become one of the group´s main commitments within its internationalisation strategy and consolidates its position as one of the three strategic countries alongside Germany and the American market. In this scenario, Danobatgroup has taken a step forward this week in its expansion strategy in the Asian market with the inauguration of a new centre of excellence in Shanghai, China´s main industrial hub.
The opening of this new space, which has required an investment of more than 2 million euros, took place today May 31st. Among other outstanding activities, the event included technical workshops and live demonstrations for customers in the Asian country.
More than 4,000 square metres
In order to improve competitiveness and offer the best service to its Asian customers, the new facilities have the latest advances and developments from Soraluce, a world leading manufacturer in milling, boring and multifunction technology; from Danobat, one of the main European manufacturers of grinding machines, lathes and robotic systems for machining; from Overbeck, a prestigious German developer and manufacturer of internal grinding machines; from Hembrug, specialised in ultra-precision, fully hydrostatic hard turning machines.
In the words of Xabier Alzaga, manager of Danobat, "this new space will allow us to establish closer contact with our customers and offer them a close service, with the option of testing the latest technologies and developments from Soraluce, Danobat, Overbeck and Hembrug in situ".
This space, which has a staff of 60 people, has a showroom with three precision machining rooms that currently includes the following machines: an IRD-400 internal, external, face and radius grinding machine from Overbeck, the MIKROTURN-100 horizontal hard turning machine from Hembrug, and an ESTARTA-175 Danobat centreless grinding machine for test machining of customer parts. The space also has a large area to house several milling and boring machines, including a Soraluce PMG gantry milling machine, a measuring room, three rooms for after-sales service with spare parts and where the maintenance of heads will also be carried out, offices and a space for training, events, etc., among others.
For his part, Rafa Idígoras, Managing Director of Soraluce, has stated that thanks to this new ecosystem "we will be able to offer our customers a unique experience; at the same time, we will jointly promote technological progress in the field of advanced manufacturing in China, which, in short, will help us to strengthen our position in the country".
Consolidation in the Asian market
Located in the Songjiang district of the Chinese industrial capital, the recently inaugurated Shanghai Xperience Center joins the other six centres of excellence that the industrial Group´s companies have in strategic countries such as the USA, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
This new opening represents a new milestone in the more than 30 years of experience in the Chinese market. Since opening its first representative office in Beijing in 1991, Danobatgroup companies have already installed around 700 machines for their Chinese customers and the number of people working in the Chinese delegation has grown from the initial three to the 60 that currently form part of the team.
The group has also served as a springboard for other companies in the state-owned machine tool sector to penetrate China. Among other milestones, it is worth mentioning its leadership in the creation of the Spanish-Chinese Machine Tool Institute in Tianjin, 20 years ago, which has become the current entry platform for many Spanish companies in the sector.
