The Basque engineering firm Etxetar has established itself as a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced production systems for key components of both internal combustion engines and electric vehicles. With over six decades of industrial experience, the company holds a prominent position in the development of high-value manufacturing technologies for the automotive sector.
From its headquarters in Elgoibar (Spain), Etxetar designs and produces highly specialized, customized industrial solutions tailored to high-volume manufacturing environments. Its product range includes machine tools for machining crankshafts, camshafts, connecting rods, engine blocks, aluminum profiles, and battery boxes, as well as advanced thermal treatment systems and laser-based technologies for cladding and precision cutting.
The company's commitment to technological innovation dates back to the 1970s, when it began to develop specific applications for the automotive industry. Over the years, Etxetar has expanded its international presence, exporting 90% of its output to over 60 countries and working directly with leading manufacturers.
A key milestone in its trajectory was the specialization in powertrain systems —including transmission shafts and components— which consolidated its global market reputation. In 2000, Etxetar became the world leader in the supply of crankshaft machining machines, following its first major international project with Ford in the United States.
Today, Etxetar produces around 100 machines annually, all tailor-made to meet customer-specific manufacturing requirements. The company focuses on turnkey solutions rather than standard catalogs, enabling flexible adaptation to diverse production scenarios.
Etxetar is part of Inzu Group, a network of 13 industrial companies focused on advanced manufacturing, sustainability, digitalization, and circular economy. Through its R&D unit Ikergune, the company develops cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving industrial efficiency, sustainability, and digital integration.
Among its most recent developments is a high-production cladding solution (EHLA) for brake discs, designed to reduce particle emissions during braking processes in line with European environmental regulations. This innovation adds to Etxetar’s extensive portfolio of industrial patents, further reinforcing its leadership in technological advancement.
Etxetar continues to address the industry's challenges with a strategy based on technological excellence, global outreach, and a commitment to more efficient and sustainable manufacturing practices.
