FANUC Iberia, the subsidiary of the Japanese multinational specialising in industrial automation, has officially inaugurated its new headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona. The event, which took place over three days, was attended by more than 500 customers and leading representatives of the sector.
The opening ceremony, held on 20 February, featured speeches from leading figures such as David Trabal, Managing Director of FANUC Iberia; Marco Ghirardello, President and CEO of FANUC Europe Corporation; Kenji Yamaguchi, President and CEO of FANUC Corporation; and Xabier Ortueta, Managing Director of AFM (Advanced Manufacturing Technologies). During his speech, Trabal highlighted that the customer has been the central axis in the decision-making process for the construction of the new headquarters, a project that began in 2017 with the aim of improving customer service.
For his part, Ghirardello underlined the importance of the Iberian market for the company, assuring FANUC's commitment to grow in the region. Yamaguchi introduced the company's main innovations, such as the new FANUC 500i-A Series CNC and the "R-50iA" robot controller, highlighting FANUC's entry into a new era of unprecedented automation demands.
The event was also attended by Salvador Giró, President of AER Automation, who in his speech stated that robotisation is a fundamental element for competitiveness in all areas of society. The last day of the ceremony included speeches by Mitsuyuki Taniguchi, Executive Vice President and CTO of FANUC Europe, and Pere Homs, Director General of the Col-legi d'Enginyers Industrials, who spoke about FANUC's production process in Japan and the future of robotics, respectively.
The new FANUC Iberia facility, with a total surface area of almost 9,000 m², includes a large warehouse, technical test areas, air-conditioned room, applications area, showroom, offices and several meeting rooms, as well as the FANUC Academy, dedicated to training in CNC, robotics and machines. It stands out for its commitment to sustainability, with the BREEAM® Sustainable Building Certificate and designed to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.
