The doctoral thesis defended before tribunal at the IMH on 3 February has been carried out at the workshops of IMH and of the UPV. This thesis has dealt with the experimental study of the wear of the diamond dresser during grinding, and it was defended in the Basque language by Xabier Cearsolo from Elgoibar.
The thesis was developed under the guidance of the Mechanics Department of the UPV/EHU. The Chairman of the tribunal congratulated both the IMH and the new PhD holder: “I am pleased to listen to this industrial thesis in Elgoibar, the heart of the machine-tool; it has been an honour for me to form part of this tribunal”. The Chairman also congratulated and thanked the IMH for the work it is carrying out in the sector, for the long and successful collaboration the IMH maintains with the UPV/EHU, and the preparation of the thesis in the Basque language. This latter point was an important contribution in the technological field. He also highlighted the wording of the summary of the thesis, which was set in a tone that could easily be understood by the general public.
Thus, the Dual Engineering University School of the IMH now has eight PhDs, with the addition of another three in the coming academic year.
