There are four prize modalities in this year’s edition: the award for innovation in machine-tools, the award for innovation in parts, accessories and tools, the award for innovation in additive or 3D manufacturing, and the award for innovation in integrating industry 4.0 concepts into advanced manufacturing systems. A new feature this year will be the award for the most innovative startup in the advanced and digital manufacturing field, to be selected from among all the businesses competing in all top four categories (machine-tools, parts, additive and 4.0 concepts).
The award ceremony will take place at the BEC on 16 June during the BIEMH Machine-Tool Exhibition and the prizes will be presented by the president of AFM Cluster, José Pérez
Berdud; the general manager of AFM Cluster, Xabier Ortueta; the General Director of Industry and SMEs of the Spanish Goverment, Galo Gutierrez; and the Bizkaia Regional Councillor for Economic Promotion, Ainara Basurko, alongside Xabier Basáñez, Managing Director of the BEC.
The presentation of the Innovation Awards will also include the presentation of two other awards, the AFM-SIF 2020- 2022 (Manufacturing Engineering Society) Awards, which are the result of close collaboration between both organisations. This is the AFM special mention for the best end-of-degree project related to the machine-tool sector.
Since its launch in 1992, the Bizkaia Regional Council, through DZ, currently BEAZ, has been collaborating with AFM and BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) to organise the awards.
