On Friday, 2 December 2016, the Aeronautics Advanced Manufacturing Centre (CFAA) at the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park in Zamudio hosted the general assembly of the Business Grouping linked to the CFAA, where new memberships were approved, among other issues.
The meeting was held in the conference room named after the late ITP manufacturing technologies director Plácido Rodal, who passed away on 21 February 2015. He had put forward the idea of creating the CFAA and galvanised the initial process.
The aim of the Grouping (officially named the Business Grouping for Development of Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing Techniques) is to cooperate on research and development of advanced manufacturing technologies and on subsequent transfer of the R&D results from the industrial agents by undertaking specific projects using the CFAA’s facilities.
The CFAA is a mixed centre attached to the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), constituted by the Business Grouping along with the UPV/EHU, the Basque Business Development Agency (SRI Group), the Bizkaia Provincial Council and the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park. Its ceremonial opening is expected to take place in the next few weeks.
