On 8 February, the cutting tool manufacturer received a visit from Itziar Etxeberria, head of Aukerak, and José Miguel Monreal, deputy director of the Basauri penitentiary facility (Bizkaia). This meeting was part of the Collaboration Commitment signed between IZAR and the aforementioned Basque Government affiliated entity.
The aim of the collaboration between the Amorebieta-based company and Aukerak is to manage a production workshop in which to carry out work relating to the manufacture and sale of IZAR tools.
After signing the agreement last December, work will resume during this month of February, once the facilities of the Bizkaia-based penitentiary centre are adequately adapted for the training and access to the workplace of the inmates.
Aukerak was founded within the context of the Basque Government's adoption of the penitentiary transfer and is based on the inmates’ right to re-education and social reinsertion by means of remunerated work, a cause that IZAR wishes to support as part of its social responsibility policy.
