Benchmark cutting tool manufacturer Izar Cutting Tools, located in Amorebieta, has put a new management system in place which increases its logistics capacity twofold.
With the Pick to Light system, a state-of-the-art Japanese technology, the productivity rate of Izar's logistics area has managed to grow exponentially, reaching over 5,000 lines served per day, which is more than double prior figures, and up to 8,000 lines per day is expected to be reached in the near future.
Among other innovations, Izar has opted to use the Pick to Light system, enabling it to manage the time between operations in the logistics area much more efficiently, which for a European manufacturer of its size, firmly focused on meeting its customers’ needs, means better customer service.
In collaboration with engineering company Logitec and Pick to Light Systems, a partner specialising in advanced solutions for order preparation and manufacturing processes, which is owned by Japanese company AIOI, Izar has managed to significantly improve the efficiency of its picking processes.
Thanks to an intelligent order cart system, equipped with a device that lights up to indicate different types of orders, operatives can work on several orders at a time, radically cutting down on the amount of possible incidents and optimising work time needed between operations down to the second.
In turn, potential order incidents that may have arisen before this picking process was automated have practically disappeared. In short, another innovation with which Izar has made a complex issue simple, always with the aim of providing excellent service to our customers and users.
