Izar Cutting Tools, manufacturers of cutting tools at their plant in Basque Country town of Amorebieta, has gone ahead with its strategic plan to modernise its workshop means. In this current phase, it has ordered the supply of different pieces of equipment from the Arrola Hornos in Guipuzcoa and from the German engineering company, Kark Haux.
Izar has ordered the supply of an automatic line of 3 tempering furnaces from Arrola, each one with a load capacity of 500 kilos. The installation of these furnaces, which the Guipuzcoa manufacturer will construct at its plant in Zumarraga, is scheduled for this coming August, as the company intends to have them up and running at full capacity one month later. The future equipment will replace other in-line furnaces that are operating now at the Amorebieta plant and their entry into operation will entail important electricity savings.
The investment has been included in the Machinery Plan Renove of the Basque Government, and it will lead to a considerable increase in quality in the tempering processes of Izar’s cutting tools. On the other hand, the Amorebieta facilities will also add a CNC machine for grinding channels and sharpening bits with diameters from 0.7 millimetres to 2 millimetres. The machine is a prototype that is being developed by the German engineering company, Kark Haux, and it is tailored to Izar’s needs and specifications.
