The 30th edition of BIEMH was presented this morning in BEC in an extremely optimistic atmosphere. Arantza Tapia, the President of BEC, Xabier Basañez, Managing Director of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Mª Carmen Gorostiza, Director of the 30BIENMH, Xabier Ortueta, Managing Director of AFM Cluster and Bruno Manzanares, Managing Director of AIMHE took part in the presentation.
The BEC exhibition centre will host, from 28 May to 1 June, 1,700 exhibiting companies who will exhibit 1,200 machines and occupy the six BEC pavilions in what is expected to be the best edition of the fair since 2008.
The machine tool and advanced manufacturing technologies sector has closed 2017 with a significant increase in sales of 12.97%, with 1,690 million Euro, a record figure. Also breaking marks, exports grew by 4.10%, reaching 1,233.37 million Euro. Growth is based largely on the huge collection of orders experienced by the deformation subsector in 2016, delivered in 2017.
In the words of Xabier Ortueta, the Managing Director of AFM, the expectations of the advanced manufacturing technologies sector are very good for this new edition of the leading industrial trade fair held in our country: “This new, without a doubt spectacular, edition of the BIEMH, will be immersed in digitisation. A very high number of exhibiting companies with cutting-edge solutions and world class equipment who, according to our forecasts, will be visited by a high number of purchasers with investment needs”.
The fair has also incorporated many new developments, including the BEDIGITAL fair, the first event directed at the industrial application of digital technologies and the ADDIT3D fair, the main professional trade fair dedicated to additive and 3D manufacturing, both located in pavilion 4. The WORKinn fair, which will take place on 30 and 31 May, is the forum to connect staffing needs of industrial enterprises with young technicians who have just finished their studies and are going to join the labour market.
The ADDITIVE TALKS are going to be held in ADDIT3D with 25 presentations by experts in the field of additive manufacturing. Invited companies such as AIRBUS Defence & Space, ACITURRI or SEAT, will share the challenges involved in implementation of additive manufacturing technologies on 31 May and 1 June.
BIEMH will also host the 13th National Prize for Innovation in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing Technologies, which will reward innovations in Machine tools, in Additive Manufacturing and 4.0 Concepts applied to industry.
The companies Addilan, Addimen, Mizar Additive and Optimus 3D; in the 4.0 Industry category, Fagor Arrasate, Industrias Puigjaner-Denn, Savvy, Trimek and a joint venture of Ibarmia, Shuton and Zayer; in the Machine-tool, components, accessories and tools category, Dimeco, Fresmak, Goizper, Korta, Nicolás Correa, Soraluce, Myl and Zayer, are in the running for the additive manufacturing category prize in the 2018 edition.
AFM CLUSTER brings together a collective of more than 400 companies in the field of advanced and digital manufacturing, 120 of which will be present at the fair occupying a significant part of the exhibition space of the BIEMH.
