This was Lantek’s first appearance at the Blechexpo trade show after the coronavirus outbreak. Lantek, a pioneer company in the digital transformation of the sheet metal industry, with 35 years of experience in developing software for sheet metal manufacturing, presented the latest functionalities and improvements developed for its software portfolio, which generated a high degree of interest. Alberto López de Biñaspre, CEO of the company, took the opportunity to share the details of the company’s expansion and association with the high-tech company TRUMPF.
“After such a long absence due to COVID, we were looking forward to receiving guests and participants once again in a trade show and letting them know in person about the innovations in Global Release 2021 and the response has been tremendous”, commented Christoph Lenhard, Lantek sales director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on the first day of the show. “We have gone through a hard time, but come out stronger because of everything we have learned. Our customers have developed new needs, such as a greater demand for solutions that are compatible with remote working and working from the office. This new situation supports our decision to develop a range of products in the cloud to respond to these new realities”. To meet these goals, Lantek has hired a large number of new specialists with the necessary experience. This is because the cloud requires programming skills and thorough knowledge of infrastructure and services that are not necessary to develop software for desktop applications.
This is the path to take from now on, stated Alberto López de Biñaspre, CEO of Lantek. “Our organic growth in recent years has been in the double digits. At the end of the third quarter of this year, sales were 30% higher than last year. Traditionally, we invest a large part of our income in research and development. Thanks to this new association with TRUMPF, the largest industrial group in the machine-tool sector, we now have the necessary resources to go even further along this path. In 2022 we expect to make the largest investments in the history of the company. We want to increase our commitment to research and development by 70%. We plan to increase our current worldwide workforce of 260 employees by 50% over the next twelve months in a clear commitment to R&D and our international customer service team”. Lantek is thinking long-term, with a plan for growth that extends to 2025.
Looking to the future
Lantek will celebrate its 35th anniversary this year, as well as the 30th anniversary of its French subsidiary and 25th anniversary of its German subsidiary. López de Biñaspre emphasised the commitment of the specialised software company, revealed by its strategy as a multi-provider: “The expansion plan not only strengthens the position of our brand, but also improves our international structure by propping up and expanding our current structure and international footprint. We and TRUMPF are family companies that share the same business values and principles and have a common vision for the future: to turn the companies in the sheet metal sector into intelligent and digital factories, making them more efficient and competitive”.
