AFM CEO, Miguel Ángel Montes, received the Korta 2018 Award the 12th of november in a ceremony chaired by Lehendakari Íñigo Urkullu in the Miramón Science and Technology Park. Other award recipients were Alicia Garmendia, President of the Iruña Group, Luis Cañada, ex-managing director of Vicinay Cadenas and President of the Novia Salcedo Foundation and Javier María Onaindia, founder of the Onaindia Group.
Cometel is a family-owned company with over 30 years experience in the design, manufacturing and commissioning of turnkey solutions for transportation and treatment of swarf, stamping scrap and waste, founded in 1987 in Elgoibar by Miguel Ángel Montes, his father-in-law and his spouse. The company's production plants in Spain and Mexico offer turnkey solutions on the five continents, covering all the work processes, from the initial design and engineering stages to the production and installation stage.
The Joxe Mari Korta awards were established after the murder by ETA of this businessman from Gipuzkoa and then President of Adegi to publicly recognise individuals with an extensive professional career and work dedicated to business improvement.
The jury for the Korta Awards is chaired by the Councillor for Economic Development, Arantxa Tapia, and comprised by representatives of the Joxe Mari Kortaren Bidetik Foundation and the Adegi, Cebek, SEA and Confebask business associations.
The awards ceremony was attended by the Councillor for Work and Justice, María Jesús San José, the Councillor for Treasury and Economy, Pedro Azpiazu and the Councillor for Security, Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia, as well as the Mayor of San Sebastián, Eneko Goia, Head of the Regional Council of Gipuzkoa, Markel Olano and the Presidents of the General Assembly and the Parliament, Eider Mendoza and Bakartxo Tejería.
