NIASA's tradition of collaborating with sector companies in different European countries goes back over 20 years, both in construction and in the operation/maintenance and disassembly of nuclear plants.
NIASA products have a wide variety of applications: professional work platforms, cargo lifts, container handling, door openers, crane hooks, inspection systems for one or multiple axes, etc.
The spindle lifts supplied will activate the access hatch into the reactor building. During the construction phase, they will facilitate the entry of personnel and materials, including the vessel itself. During plant operation, they will contribute to ensuring the integrity of internal containment. And in the event of an accident, they will maintain interior pressure and limit the release of radioactive waste.
The machines were designed based on standard NIASA products, with significant redesigns to adapt them to the project’s demands:
REQUIREMENT SOLUTION
Resistance to radiation = Change materials, lubricants, other products.
Seismic classification = Suitable design and safety coefficients.
Resistance to corrosion = Special materials and coatings.
Mechanical irreversibility = Modification of spindle reduction and geometry.
Wear and tear of bronze crowns in J1 = Gearbox redesign + Wear and tear control system.
Client Engines = Customised interfaces.
The main specifications to be met, as well as theoretically, were verified through tests in the NIASA testing banks and overseen by client engineers.
“Logically, the nuclear sector has very demanding standards. Design, testing and manufacturing must all be verified and proven down to the tiniest detail. At NIASA we feel particularly confident working for this industry”, says José Manuel Rodríguez, technical director of NIASA.
Types of spindle lifts supplied: models NIASA J1S, NIASA J4S, NIASA M3S and NIASA M4S.
