The Ibero-American Manufacturing Federation was officially constituted today, on occasion of the IMTS held in Chicago. This historic event marks a significant step forward in the collaboration and development of the manufacturing industry in Ibero-America, as it will unite strong players in the sector in an unprecedented joint initiative.
The primary goal of the Ibero-American Manufacturing Federation is to establish a forum for cooperation to boost industrial development in the region. This new body intends to facilitate collaboration among business organizations and companies in the Ibero-American manufacturing sector, representing and protecting its interests in both the domestic and international spheres as regards regulations, customs and measures, in order to enhance investment. The Federation will also focus on promoting trade and the international presence of the companies in the sector, supporting their expansion and product distribution and organizing events and trade shows that enhance their international status.
Another essential function of the Federation is to boost technological innovation by fostering transnational R&D projects and organizing specific promotional events. As regards training, joint programs will be developed to prepare professionals with the appropriate profiles and further international talent mobility to cooperate in learning and job market insertion processes.
Communication will also play a central role in this new Federation; its main objective will be to transmit the important role that advanced manufacturing plays in the economic development of Ibero-American economies. In this first stage, the Federation has gathered the most outstanding industrial organizations in several countries, namely Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Portugal and Spain, while leaving open the option of including more in the future.
The founding process of the Federation has included the approval of a charter proposal to define how it will be governed. This charter will set forth the conditions for membership and obligations of its members, thereby ensuring a solid and efficient organizational structure. The Federation will be governed by a Board of Directors whose members will represent the associates and a General Assembly that will include other relevant entities.
To date, several associations have confirmed their membership in the Federation, among which are AMDM from Mexico, AIMMAP from Portugal, CARMAHE from Argentina, and AFM from Spain.
Formalizing the constitution at the IMTS event has been key, as it was possible to take advantage of the critical mass of sector associations and companies gathered in the same venue. The IMTS, held on September 9-13 in Chicago, is one of the sector’s most important international trade shows. It brings together manufacturers, distributors and professionals from the world over to display the latest innovation in machine tools and manufacturing technologies.
The constitution of the Ibero-American Manufacturing Federation will not only serve to promote collaboration, innovation and economic growth in the region, but also represents a significant step forward for industrial competitiveness and development in Ibero-America.
