SARRALLE WILL LEAD THE DEVELOPMENT OF A GREENFIELD STEEL PLANT IN INDIA FOR LLOYDS METALS & ENERGY LTD.

06 November, 2024

SARRALLE has been selected by the Indian steel company Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. to lead the design, manufacture and commissioning of a new greenfield steel plant in Ghugus, Maharashtra. This project represents a significant step in the expansion of Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd., founded in 1977 and now present throughout the steel value chain, from the mining of iron ore to the manufacture of direct reduced iron (DRI) and other steel products.

The plant, estimated to produce 1,200,000 tonnes of long products annually, will be a strategic component in strengthening Lloyds' production capacity in the Indian market. The project involves the design and erection of advanced technology and equipment essential for steel processing, including:

  • 2 electric arc furnaces (EAF) of 50 tonnes each.
  • 3 ladle furnaces (LF) of 50 tonnes each.
  • A fume extraction system (FES) with a capacity of 1,200,000 m³/h.
  • 1 vacuum degassing system (VD) of 50 tons.
  • 2 continuous casting machines (CCM) of 9/16 M configuration.
  • Auxiliary equipment that will complement the plant's infrastructure.

SARRALLE's involvement ranges from design and fabrication to erection supervision and commissioning of all major equipment, a comprehensive task that will consolidate the steel mill's infrastructure and operational efficiency. The plant is scheduled to start operations in 2026, which will allow Lloyds to increase its competitiveness in the Indian market and respond to the growing demand for long products in the region.

With this collaboration, SARRALLE reinforces its position as a global partner in high impact projects for the steel sector, providing advanced technological solutions that drive the sustainable growth of the steel industry in key international markets.
