SCHAEFFLER PRESENTS SOLUTIONS FOR ELECTRIFICATION AND DIGITALISATION OF OFF-HIGHWAY TECHNOLOGY

21 June, 2024Schaeffler will be presenting its comprehensive product portfolio for off-highway machine technology at iVT Cologne 2024, a leading international trade fair for industrial technology and vehicle components. On 26 and 27 June at the Cologne Exhibition Centre in Cologne, Germany, we will be presenting mainly systems for electrifying and digitising mobile agricultural machinery, construction machinery and material handling technology. Schaeffler emphasises its commitment to sustainability and supports the transition to a highly efficient and climate-neutral economy in the off-highway machinery sector.

One of the central topics that Schaeffler will be exhibiting at the iVT in Cologne will be electromechanical linear actuators. With the acquisition of the Swedish linear motion specialist Ewellix, Schaeffler is presenting itself as a complete solution provider. On its stand, Schaeffler will also be showing intelligent sensor solutions for off-highway equipment as well as electric motors for traction drives or auxiliary units in off-highway machinery.

Linear technology: High-performance actuators for heavy-duty applications

Under the brand name Ewellix, Schaeffler is presenting a wide range of efficient solutions for linear motion. One of the highlights of the trade fair are the CASM Ewellix actuators, a new generation of high-performance electromechanical actuators. They offer an impressive lifting force of up to 15 tonnes with maximum positioning accuracy. These actuators support flexible and precise lifting and tilting operations, but require only a 24 V power supply and a standardised CAN bus or analogue control system on the machine.

Sensors for force measurements

The Schaeffler LoadSense-PIN enables effective load control. This sensor solution consists of a small steel cylinder that is pressed into a bore of the relevant customer component and measures the loads of the surrounding material structure. A strain gauge applied as a coating directly to the cylinder using Schaeffler Sensotect technology registers these changes and transfers them via analogue or bus system to the machine control system. This enables force measurement and provides information on loads on components such as axles or gearboxes, and also on safety-relevant weight distribution when using lifting tools.

Schaeffler electric motors with maximum power density

As traction drives or auxiliary units in off-highway machinery, Schaeffler electric motors offer maximum reliability and maintenance-free operation.

These drive solutions, with a maximised power density of approximately 5.1 kW/kg motor, facilitate the forward-looking switch from combustion engines to electric motors in the off-highway machinery segment and make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions in the industry.
