Lantek, a multinational pioneer in the digital transformation of the sheet metal and metal cutting and processing sector, received a visit today from Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller and Mathias Kammüller, members of the family that owns TRUMPF, the largest machine tool manufacturing group in the world.
Accompanied by Alberto López de Biñaspre, Lantek CEO, the top representatives of TRUMPF had the chance to get to know the facilities at Lantek's headquarters in Miñano, and its new offices in Bilbao, as well as the expansion and growth project launched by Lantek in recent months.
TRUMPF's visit follows on from the Basque Government's official trip to Germany last July. During this trip, led by the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia, the Minister was able to visit the TRUMPF facilities in the Central European country and find out about Lantek's expansion and growth project, which places the Álava-based company in an important strategic position within the technological development of the German multinational.
On this occasion, TRUMPF board members met with the Basque President, Iñigo Urkullu, and again with Arantxa Tapia, to learn first-hand about the Basque Country's firm commitment to innovation and industry. This meeting was also attended by the directors of AFM - Clúster de Máquina Herramienta, Xabier Ortueta, general manager, and José Pérez Berdud, president. According to the latest report on regional innovation published by the European Commission (Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2021), the Basque Country is a "high innovation region" and stands out for having an economy with a solid industrial base and high technological content, with significant drive in different innovation strategies and the steadfast support of the Basque Government and its institutions.
As López de Biñaspre commented, "TRUMPF's visit to the Basque Country and meeting with the Basque Government supports Lantek's leading position within the German industrial giant and reinforces our shared vision of continuing to collaborate to promote the digitization of companies in the sheet metal sector, providing them with greater efficiency and competitiveness".
Lantek and TRUMPF, a technological partnership with international scope
The TRUMPF Group is a high-tech company that develops and manufactures production solutions in the machine tools and laser technology sectors. With over 14,767 employees, the company achieved a turnover of 3,5047 billion euros in the 2020/21 financial year.
In March 2021, the Basque technology company Lantek announced the agreement they have made with the German company TRUMPF, in an aim to consolidate the latter's commitment to independent cutting technology software. Thanks to this agreement, Lantek's clients will benefit from a close exchange in the key technologies of the future: Artificial Intelligence, Big Data models and integrated process control.
