24 November, 2021On Friday, November 5, the Business Federation of Leon (FELE) presented Jorge Luis Rodríguez, Óscar Fidel Rodríguez and José Luis Mallo, managers and associates of Tecoi with the 2021 Entrepreneurs of the Year award for their achievements in the management of this leading, internationally-oriented company from Leon. The award recognises the role of this family-owned company and its trajectory. The management of Tecoi received the award on the 29th edition of Enterprise Day, held on Friday, 26 November in the City of Leon Auditorium.
As stated by the Chairman of the FELE, Javier Cepedano, the Board of Directors of the organisation decided to award the company’s dedication to innovative in all its processes and its commitment to generating quality employment in rural areas as a means to enhance their recovery, growth and motivation. Mr. Cepedano also mentioned Tecoi’s international profile as another reason for granting them this award.
The company’s managers expressed their gratitude, underscored the trajectory of TECOI since its founding in 1995 in the Sahelices de Sabero industrial park, where it has its main offices and production centre and highlighted the company’s continuous investment and growth since that year.
Jorge L. Rodríguez confirmed that more than 80% of the company’s production is sold in international markets and its primary customer is from the steel works industry.
The TECOI management placed special emphasis on the company’s origin and location and its dedication to providing opportunities for rural areas by installing their main production plant in Sahelices. “Nearly 70% of our employees are from the area”, assured Mr. Rodríguez.
They also confirmed that one of the main difficulties they are encountering is caused by the lack of and cost of raw materials and electronic components, although they “are prepared to face this challenge”. The lack of labour is another handicap for the company. José Luis Mallo stated that what is needed in their activity is “people with drive and a strong mindset”. “TECOI is an ongoing university. We provide the training, but we need people who will accept the challenge”.
TECOI was founded in 1995 and is dedicated to the design, manufacture, installation, development and maintenance of metal processing stations using technologies such as laser, plasma, oxy-fuel cutting, sheet metal machining and preparation of edges for welding. Since its foundation, it has been committed to research and development, which has resulted in products that stand out for their innovation and quality.
From its 28,000 m2 head offices in the town of Sahelices de Sabero in Leon, it manages its various delegations in Europe, the United States, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Panama, providing services over the five continents and guaranteeing its presence in over 25 countries.
