20 November, 2024The Machine Tool Museum is commemorating its 25th anniversary at an event that will bring together institutions, companies and leading figures from the sector. This celebration, which will take place on Thursday 28 November, marks a milestone in the history of a unique space dedicated to preserving and disseminating the evolution of machine tools in the emblematic setting of Elgoibar and the Debabarrena region. This region is the region with the highest concentration of machine tool companies in the world.
Since its opening in December 1998, the museum has been a benchmark in the conservation and recovery of historic models of machine tools, many of them in perfect working order. With an educational and informative approach, its permanent exhibition allows visitors to learn about the technological evolution of these machines, with a total of 25 pieces of operating equipment that exemplify the capacity to machine parts from different periods. This space not only shows the technical history, but also the human history, preserving the legacy of men and women, entrepreneurs and workers who have forged the sector.
The event will be attended by representatives of Elgoibar Town Council, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government, as well as members of the Board of Trustees, such as AFM Cluster, IMH Campus, Danobatgroup, friends and benefactors of the museum. During the day, attendees will be able to enjoy live demonstrations of traditional crafts and a networking space.
‘We want this 25th anniversary to be the start of a new stage, in which the Machine Tool Museum continues to be a point of reference with the support of those who have been present over the years, looking to the future with a spirit of innovation and talent,’ says Rafa Zulaika, the museum's director.
The Machine Tool Museum, an exhibition space that is part of the AFM Cluster, reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of industrial history, with the desire to continue inspiring future generations in an environment of learning and conservation.
