The first IMH master’s degree was launched and presented last friday, 21st of september. It will be taught at the University School of Dual Engineering of the IMH (Machine-Tool Institute) at Elgoibar, as well as on the premises of TECNALIA at Donostia-San Sebastián, in the IK4 – IDEKO Technological Centre at Elgoibar and in the CFAA (Centre for Advanced Aeronautical Manufacturing) at Zamudio.
The dual Digital Manufacturing master’s degree is a two-year official degree recognized by the UPV/EHU, designed in close collaboration with local cutting-edge companies. These participate in defining the contents and conducting the studies, relying on a prestigious faculty and professionals from a variety of institutions, well-known and respected in their specific fields of knowledge. The students will receive their dual training in leading Basque companies.
The inauguration was attended by the President of the IMH and General Manager of AFM Cluster, Xabier Ortueta, the Director of Post-Graduate Studies of the UPV/EHU, Josu Sangroniz, the Director of Economic Advancement of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Garikoitz Agote and the Director of University Policy and Coordination of the Basque Government, Miren Artaraz.
The experts invited to the event, Mikel Niño, Head of Industry 4.0 at TECNALIA, and Jon Kepa Gerrikagoitia, Manager of TICs and Automation at IK4-IDEKO, centred their interventions on the Digital Manufacturing Master’s Degree and the context of Industry 4.0., while the presentation by the Director of Innovation of the ETXE-TAR Group, Patxi Samaniego, dealt with the strategy and future of Industry 4.0.
In addition to the authorities already mentioned, also present were the Mayor of Elgoibar, Ane Beitia, the Director of the Debabarrena development agency DEBEGESA, Juan Angel Balbás, and several representatives of the institutions and companies that participate in this master’s degree.
The new dual Digital Manufacturing Master’s Degree was officially authorised in June of last year and the dual imprimatur was awarded in August of this year. Each student has been hired by a company that has previously defined its needs in this area.
