11 March, 2024The University of Burgos (UBU) will celebrate its 30th anniversary with the incorporation of the renowned businessman from Burgos, José Ignacio Nicolás-Correa, to the distinguished faculty of honorary doctors.
The UBU's highest distinction not only recognises the business success of Nicolás-Correa, founder of a multinational company dedicated to the manufacture of milling machines and industrial components for the machine tool sector, but also his significant contribution to the economic development of the province of Burgos. Furthermore, his close relationship with the university is evidenced by his past presidency of the Academic Committee of the UBU Social Council and the current participation of its CEO, Carmen Pinto. His commitment extends to collaboration in academic internships, lecturing and his active participation in research projects and postgraduate programmes.
Nicolás-Correa's links with the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies run deep, dating back to collaborations on doctoral courses and the development of the master's degree in Business Economics, as well as MBA seminars. This long-term relationship underlines the recognition of their contribution both to academia and to the business and social fabric of Burgos.
The dean of the faculty, Juan Bautista Delgado, highlights the international importance of the company headed by Nicolás-Correa, underlining its position as the only listed company in Burgos. The approval of his appointment as doctor honoris causa is scheduled for the next Faculty Board, representative of all university groups, and the investiture ceremony will be held on 15 April in the UBU auditorium.
This recognition highlights the close interrelationship between the business world and academia, and celebrates the contribution of prominent figures to the economic and social progress of the region, marking a milestone in the history of the University of Burgos and reinforcing its commitment to excellence and innovation in education and business.
