The firm Gestamp (Gestamp Wind Steel), manufacturers of wind turbines, commissioned the project, construction and assembly of two paint booths from GEINSA. These booths, measuring 40 x 7 x 7 metres, and 36 x 7 x 7 metres, will be installed in parallel for its subsidiary in Amarillo (Texas).
The project designed, manufactured and installed by GEINSA is comprised of two paint booths for wind towers equipped with fire-prevention system, electrical box with general synoptic chart, PLC and touch screen, as well as a 6 x 3 metre paint laboratory.
The interior working dimensions of the installation are 40 metres long, 7 metres wide and 7 metres high, and the following operations can be carried out there:
- Application of liquid paint, with pressurised environment by means of discharge of filtered air and outlet of used air to the outside, with dry filtration retention system.
- Drying by convection of materials at a temperature of up to 60º C by means of hot air recirculation.
The ventilation equipment was placed on the roof to fully optimise the available space.
Each booth has an entrance door and an exit door, 6 metres wide and 7 metres high, equipped with fireproof textile curtains.
Eight personnel access doors were installed, manufactured like the rest of the panels, in 80 mm thick EI90 fireproof material.
The lighting system is based on the longitudinal distribution of light screens o the upper part, and their vertical distribution on the panelling. This provides the entire booth with even, distributed and full lighting. LED tubes have been installed for greater visibility.
Both the general control panel, and the electrical control gear and electrical field installation satisfy the demands of the UL standards.
